ABOUT US
The P.E.I. Rumrunners, comprised mainly of “misplaced Islanders”, started out in 1978 as a men’s hockey team in Calgary. In 2006 -after nearly 20 years of playing together- the group decided to turn their annual golf tournament into a day to raise much-needed funds for worthy charities both in Alberta and P.E.I. What started out as a modest goal of $25,000 quickly grew to a goal of $1 Million, now the RumRunners are proud to share they have raised an astonishing $1.701M for charity.
2022 CHARITIES
“The Rainbow Society of Alberta believes in the power of community. All funds raised are used to grant wishes for children right here in Alberta. Along with children who have life-threatening conditions, we also grant wishes for children who have severe chronic medical illnesses. A child who is asking for a wish may have spent over half of the last year, or even half their lives, in the hospital. They have undergone medical procedures that would make grown adults weary. Their families have been by their side through it all, and are anxious and worried. A wish can give them hope. It can give them strength. It can let them know their community is doing what we can to help them get better. In 2020, our administration costs accounted for only 6% of our total expenses for the year. For over 30 years, Starlight Canada has been spreading joy to sick kids across the country through a unique blend of hospital to home programs designed for the whole family. With your help, together we can create more magic in-hospital, grant more wishes out-of-hospital and spread more sparkles across Canada!
